Echo
Echo
Loud, faint
Talk, listen, continue
Longing, lonely, hopeful, waiting
Repeat

What If I Could Paint?
What if I could paint a picture
I might capture someone’s heart
What if I set my pencil to paper
I could create a work of art
What if the image could change the world
I would look at the world around me for a place to start
Do you like this picture?

Dreaming
Sleeping, dreaming, wishing
The night
Slowly
Passes
Into a new day

Power
Weakness
Fragile, broken
Failing, falling, despairing
Loss, grief, acceptance, passion
Standing, fighting, loving
Strong, beautiful

I Am
I am
Creativity, daydreamer, determination
I love to draw and to make things.
Kindness is important to me.
Loyalty is important to me.
Imagination is important to me.
Diversity is a wonderful thing.
Apathy is bad, but it is a good opportunity to inspire someone.
We need to accept each other.
We need to be creative.
We need to speak to each other, stop shutting others out.
I am.

Quiet
Just becuase I’m quiet
Doesn’t mean I have nothing to say
Doesn’t mean I have no feelings
Don’t talk like I’m not there
Just because I’m quiet
Doesn’t mean I have no opinions
Doesn’t mean I don’t believe
I have something to say
Just becuase I’m quiet
I am ready to listen
I am ready to understand
The words will leave my tongue
Just because I’m quiet my words have greater weight
This poem was written as part of my Creative Writing Class in November of 2010.
It was written the week the Westboro Baptist Church came to town.
WBC
I don’t understand
The words you say
The feelings you feel
The ideas you spread
But most of all
Why you do this
Why you spread your hate
Why you come here
What I understand most is
That we are stronger than you
That you will not stop us
That we will stand together
We are who we are and you will not change us

Addition
The seconds add up to minutes
The minutes add up to hours
The hours add up to days
The days add up to years.
The words add up to jibes
The jibes add up to fights
The fights add up to hurts
The hurts add up to tears
The sorrys add up to forgiveness
The forgiveness adds up to friends
The friends add up to a shield
The shield against the fears
As the seconds add up to minutes
to hours to days to years
Though the inches add up to feet to miles
I know you’re always near
Synonym Poem – Broken
Broken
Fractured. Cracked. Shattered.
In repair, to rise again, only a little battered.
Opposite Poem – Destroy and Create
The opposite of demolish.
To put together and polish.
To start with something and create.
To both destroy and make, it is our fate.
