Month Poem – August

This poem was originally written for a Creative Writing class in December of 2010.

August

August
plows in with gusto.
Loses momentum,
drags along in the heat.
Drives us into the pool
into air-conditioned buildings
Waiting for the night
as refuge from the sun.
In a flurry of wind it leaves
We miss it.
Not the heat, but the freedom
outside of the air-conditioned school.
