New Tablet Art!

Got myself a new tablet and have been trying out new things for drawing digitally. (iPad 2018, Apple Pencil, Procreate App for those wondering.)

A Moment In Tune

A doodle that just kept going. Largely to try out new water/spray paint brushes.

Conflict on the Overpass

An experiment in lighting and magic effects. The pose was made way easier using an app called Make A Pose, which is basically a digital drawing mannequin.

I’ve got a couple more things I’ve been working on since my last post, that’ll hopefully be done and post-able soon!

Inktober 2017 Week 3

Inktober week 3. Not a lot this week because of some branding work that took up more time than expected. I’ll be posting the results of that some time mid-November. For now, enjoy my little inklings.

Glowing Feather

Falling Light – This drawing raises two important questions in my mind. First, “where does this mental image come from?” Probably Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. I will finish that manga one day, but it will probably take some diagrams and a great many wiki trips. The second question that comes to mind is “why do I hate myself?”. Pro tip – do not try to stipple shade with a ballpoint pen. Turns out the ball in the point of said pen actually needs to roll to dispense ink, which is not something you do in stipple/dot shading. It turned into a lot of little hash marks instead and I guess I like how it turned out but man am I glad I didn’t do this on a larger sheet of paper. Continue reading “Inktober 2017 Week 3”

Inktober 2017 Week 2

More of my sorta Inktober drawings. Still not doing quite daily drawings, and not really following the prompts, but I experimented a bit more with ink techniques this week.

What's This

What’s This? – This is one of those drawings that is a cute idea in my mind but may be creepy and unsettling to the outside viewer. I promise it’s a friendly, curious bird-man-skeleton-thing. Continue reading “Inktober 2017 Week 2”

Inktober 2017 Week 1

Decided to sort of do Inktober this year. And by “sort of” I mean I made an effort to do more ink drawings this October, but not quite daily due to work and prep for NaNoWriMo (which I will be doing daily writing for). Also using some color here and there because I like to.

Here are some drawings I did during week one:

Drawing a customer from work who was wearing a neat outfit. Continue reading “Inktober 2017 Week 1”

Commission Example – Flame In The Dark

A practice digital painting, which I’ll use as an example of this particular style once I open commissions (hopefully soon).

This one was done entirely in Photoshop with a Wacom Graphire4 tablet (which they don’t actually make anymore).

Turned out pretty well, I think. Not 100% satisfied with the flame, but I like how the general shading and atmosphere looks.
